When you try camping in a van for the first time you will always want to camp. Traveling to parks and campgrounds in van camper gives you a little more options as were to stay. Back in Kentucky, I happen to see a 1987 van camper towing a smaller trailer behind with the kid’s toys and for the year, it was in great shape. These campers last for a long time when taken care of properly. Sometimes you just replace the engine and off you go again with the same camper you enjoy. Camping this way is a way of life for many people. The pop up camper is wonderful and convenient for most people, but some people just want the ability to travel in the van camper for more convenience and it gives more of a RV type of travel. If I had to try it again, I might give it a shot, but I did travel once back in 1986, in a camper van which was not too bad for a first time experience. Nevertheless, I am an avid pop up camper type person. I would like to get down to Louisiana again; there was a camper van rental dealer down there and they had a nice pop up camper. The price was unbelievably low and the condition was excellent. Sometimes these dealers take in trade-ins, then turn around, and sell them. Just the same, they are nice and clean with good mileage left to go on them. I guess these van campers will be around for a long time to come, as long as people keep traveling and requesting this type of camping unit.
