Planning a camping trip to Maine put us in Augusta by some nice attractions to see. We were close to Maine State Museum and the lighthouses.
We wanted to take the family somewhere special and Maine was the right place to go.
We stayed at Beaver Brook Campground and had a wonderful time.
There was a swimming pool and recreation hall, which was nice for the kids. We picked the best place to stay. The boating on the lake was always a great way to wake up in the morning. I took the boat out every morning and watched the sun come up.
We spent a great deal of time bicycling around the area, since that is a great way to travel in Maine. We had many surprises along the way. We never knew that this area was so beautiful and peaceful. My family had a great time exploring the mountains and the beautiful countryside. For summer, we were amazed that we did not have many problems with any summertime bugs.
It was really nice at night. We had fires and sat around with a few drinks before bed. The only thing I would change is taking my oldest son, who seems to be outgrowing camping with his parents.
The campground has close to two hundred sites so we met a lot of people while we were there for three weeks. I am looking forward to returning to Maine next year.
I would love to see the area during the winter, but I think it would be a little too cold for camping. Besides, most of the campground close and open first in May. My dream is to someday buy an RV and travel to all areas, but I think Maine will always be my favorite. It was a great time.
