When I was camping in Alabama, the thing I enjoyed the most was the different things and attractions I found to do.

I travel with my wife and two daughters during the school vacations and we are a true camping family.

The campgrounds that we find in Alabama are nice. Many of the campgrounds have sandy beaches, which is great for water sports and sunning. The ocean is a place I like to camp by because I can enjoy the fishing and sometimes I do scuba dive a little bit. The one place we seem to head back to from time to time is the Dismals Canyon area.

This is more for families and is quieter with many areas to go sightseeing and hiking. The waterfalls and the canyon itself are something that are peaceful and give you a feeling of tranquility. Another campground I enjoy is the Desoto State Park. It offers something for the entire family.

They have tennis courts, boating, hiking and so many trails to explore. This place is somewhere the girls like to go, because they meet so many new and old friends. The park has only seventy-eight campsites, but that is enough to have fun with other campers.

My family loves to camp and travel around the Alabama area. There are so many different things to do depending on where we stay. Some of the other campgrounds are located by some of the area attractions such as the Alabama Adventure Theme Park in Birmingham.

This place has something for everyone including myself. I am not much of a rides person, but the girls get me to go on a few. I love the area and that is why I keep taking the family back there every year. The weather is great and the people are nice to talk to.
