Directory of tent and RV campgrounds in Kansas offers the list and description of best gateways to explore this mysterious and historically rich state.
Kansas is located in the Midwestern United States.
The name of the state probably comes from the Native American tribe that inhabited this place.
These people called themselves “People of the wind” or “People of the south wind” what in their native language “sounds” similarly to the familiar to us name Kansas.
Whether this is true or not – the bottom line is that numerous native tribes that lived in the region for hundreds of years and some even thousands.
Kansas was the part of the greater territory of the Louisiana later purchased from France by the US government. For a long time it represented the land of mysteries; unknown, unexplored and hidden behind the “horizon” of the interests of the westerners. And fortunately “things” did not change much with time. Thanks to low density of population, lack of big metropolitan cities, Kansas well preserved its best richness – beautiful nature, hills and forests, these days protected by the umbrella of National parks.
